Math Lessons for a Living Education is a Charlotte-Mason-inspired Math curriculum. The lessons are short and engaging and build each week, allowing your child to learn at an easy pace. Each week begins with a story about two children. These stories are designed to bring real-world application to the concepts the student is learning that week. The stories do include a Christian-based element. The books start with a review of the previous grade level’s work and then progress into the material the student needs to learn for each year. The books contain everything needed for the student and teacher. Answer keys are located in the back of each book and can be removed and placed in a binder for the parent/teacher. Bonus material is included at the back such as Place Value Houses, Fact sheets for copywork, 100’s charts, and more, relevant to each grade level.
Math Lessons for a Living Education is available for Kindergarten through grade 6. You can purchase a downloadable copy that you can print yourself (great for international families) or the traditional book.
Not a great fit for us but neat program
We used the Grade 1 level of Math Lessons for a Living Education. Overall, I thought it was a unique approach to math. My child did like it. It wasn’t hard to use as the parent. However I found that it wasn’t a good fit for my child who struggles with learning disabilities with math. However, math programs are very individual. Its hard to find a good fit. So I wouldn’t write this one off if it interests you to try. I really appreciated the unique way of learning math. It just didn’t click well with my daughter to actually learn the math, although she loved the story-based way of learning!

I struggled with Math when I was a kid, so I wanted something simple for both my kid and I to understand. She loves stories and I thought that this would be a good approach for her, but in the end, I liked it more than she did. We used level 1, struggled through it but eventually finished. I hoped level 2 would be better but she still struggled through it.
