Byline is a writing curriculum designed for Grades 9-12. This program takes students on a quest to find forgotten stories in history. This program offers a full high school English credit and with a little extra work can also be listed as a half credit of History. Daniel Schwabauer takes writing instruction and combines it with learning about famous historical people and events to create an essay-writing curriculum that is fun and engaging for students. 72 video lessons come with a Training Manual, the Reporter’s Notebook, a Teacher Guide, and example newspapers.
Teen enjoyed it
My teen enjoyed this program. Clearwater Press does not disappoint! Although my teen’s favourite was still the One Year Adventure Novel (by same company), Byline was still very worthwhile. As an added bonus, my teen enjoys history so that kept her interest also. Clearwater Press has great video quality which I really appreciate. My child learned more writing skills with this course. Its quite a unique way to teaching kids how to write an essay- but I believe the way it is taught would help capture the interest of a student interested in writing or one who is a reluctant writer…and that reluctant writers would be more interested in this program than more traditional teaching.
